Hi everyone,

I am very new to creating websites, etc.. I do it more as a hobby. I built a website off of one of my interests, dividends. it is DividendNation | Your all inclusive source for dividend stocks. DividendNation provides news, dividend lists, ex-dividend dates and more for hundreds of dividend paying stocks.

The website has been "live" since October 1st. I have been pushing one to two posts a week, use keywords, etc.. I only get about 10-15 visits a day. I have indexed, registered with google webmaster, url, etc... placed a meta description, and continue to think of SEO...

I am about to start some backlinking but something makes me feel like I am doing something wrong in only getting 10 visits a day.

Any thoughts or recommendations. Thanks to anyone to reads and responds!

  • Advice 1: online, 2 line paragraphs are great.

    Advice 2: learn patience

    Advice 3: start backlinking.

  • Dude, you're live for 2 weeks and are already getting traffic without doing anything? Congrats!

Seriously, that is not bad. Now get busy promoting it.
  • You are doing great just keep working hard and you will get results.

Start backlinks if you want quicker results you can buy traffic from google adwords.
By the way that is an amazing results for the start keep it up!
  • You have to do prepare and authorized link buildings like article , press release , social bookmarking etc.

  • Research and create a plan on how you can improve your SEO rankings. There are a lot of resources you can read online that can help you understand the SEO strategies.

  • So you basically have done nothing in regards to off page seo yet you are wondering what you're doing wrong? How about you stop reading these forums and actually do work. I don't mean to sound rude but you will never get anywhere if you don't put in the work.

You don't really have many backlinks that my tools can find. Using ahrefs and semrush here, I don't have moz or majestic at the moment (new credit card info and I never changed the details, kinda enjoying not paying through the nose each month for data.)

I'm seeing some pretty short content, I only do 500+ words a page on sites I'm trying to actually earn money from. I would add some length to those.

Remember only followed links matter, if they're nofollow I would move on unless the site has insane traffic and you have something to add to the discussion.

I usually try to push about 20-30 new pages of content to my sites a week (total not each.) So 2 a week is a bit slow. I would try to get that site filled out a bit early on.

I would pretty much say congrats on this, if you're new I don't see anything done wrong that's glaring. Just work on scaling this up, get a few more domains and start new sites there, get them filled with content as fast as you can. Then start working on improving them, keep a handful of new links and new content coming in each week.

You would be really surprised how much money say 1k pieces of content in valuable niches earns over 3-4 years if it's maintained. I realize that sounds like a ton, but once you start getting some checks invest the money in writers.

I have 10k+ pages marketing various affiliate products/services and I'm certainly not in the general forum trying to figure out how to make money online I do think my linking techniques are a bit weak since I'm spread out so much.
