Maybe the backlinks are quite good and so it helps rank your websites a little better to get more organic traffic? Don't know exactly about that site but i know for sure backlinks can help with website rankings.

If all they are doing is autosubmitting to over 1500 directories, you're wasting your time.

At best, these will be meaningless links that SEs will ignore, at worst, they'll get you penalized or banned.

So I'd say the way to maximize traffic from links like this is to forget about them. You're about four years too late.

Its good to have less backlinks that a load of irrelevant backlinks. Your website should have good manually build backlinks.

Target the right audience with good and unique content .. there is nothing more important than the awesome content
