Highest trustflow/citation flow, mediocre rankings

Hi there!

For about three years we've had quite a successful online store selling e-cigarettes. There were a few 'main' keywords we ranked for top 1-3 for about a year. Then we got slapped the **** back for a few of those main keywords.

Two sided problem;
1. Too many exact anchor text links
2. Newspaper websites started reporting on e-cigarettes in relation to health

We dropped a few positions due to the exact anchor links, and the newspaper websites pushed us further back.

So, we cleaned up the mess, built some more backlinks. After a long long time we're coming close to the first page again, ranking between 13-20 for our main keywords.

At the moment, looking at the top 10 for each of our main keywords, we outrank all of our competitors on factors as: trustflow, citation flow, referring domains. However, we just can't seem to get to the first page.

Any ideas what we might have missed?

    Trust Flow and citation flow have nothing to do with rankings. Referring domains is nice, but can be misleading. Sure you would like to have a wide variety of link sources, but I'll take 1 solid link over 100 crappy ones.

    I cannot really give you any specific advice on the site because I do not speak the language.
