Hello, I created my website about a month ago and have had barely any luck getting organic traffic to the site. My website is Home renovations and tools, I would like to get the traffic up so that i can start with a affiliate program once the website is where it needs to be. I am looking for expert advised and suggestions on what i can do, to fine tune and adjust it.

Thanks so much!

Chris

      Chris,

I won't beat around the bush, there's a fair bit of work you need to do on this site.

I'd start by getting a new design for your website. Main things are:
      • sort out the navigation so it isn't full screen
      • create a more standard "post" layout; perhaps one for your projects & another for your tool reviews
      • start using an internal linking structure: eg "list of tools used on this project" & link these to reviews where applicable
      • before & after image at the start of each blog

You also need to work on getting A LOT more content up onto the site if you're hoping to achieve any sort of organic rankings/traffic. Try to set yourself a schedule of getting a project up per week / month (whatever your time-scale is) & then write up any associated tools you may have used.

You've got a great domain and good potential but you'll need to spend a bit of time (& perhaps money) tidying up the site first.

      Keep up the good work!

Start with keyword research. Then use your keywords in the proper places (title, url, alt, h1, h2, you know); then get some backlinks.

As your site is new at first you need to emphasis on page seo by maintaining google Panda and penguin Update. On page SEO helps more to get higher ranking on search engines.

Indeed, doing SEO, if you do it well, will get you good SEO results. But what's the point of saying it? It's obvious. Like it's obvious that you are lying about the suff in your signature.

When PR was publicly updated, I checked... Do you know the only site with PR 10 that I found: Google and Youtube (and only the front page).

Do you know who had a PR of 9 I found? Yahoo, Bing and sites like that. And only their home pages.

I know for a fact that Yahoo, Bing and sites like that will not give you a link from their home pages. The people who had ads there are paying thousands. So, how are you selling PR 9 links?

Why not be honest, sell backlinks from PR0 pages that are on sites where the homepage has a PR of more than 0?

Ranking sure is hard. The only ones who can rank are the guys who maintain Google's Panda and Penguin updates.

News at 11 from your resident PR link scammer!

You should fix the layout. My browser window is reasonably wide, but I lose half of the navigation. I know this is subjective, but the site is butt-ugly. I have no idea what the blurry picture on top is supposed to be, or why most of the screen real-estate is taken by this huge gray blob. The text blocks on front page are hard to read, and seem quite random.

Your h1 headings seem to be "Home renovations" and "Tool reviews" for a sub page. Clearly not ideal. Yes, there's also h1 in the article topic, but that's the third one on the page.

It's really hard to get something like this to rank. I'd guess that it's a niche with fairly strong competition. After all, DIY has been a popular phenomenon for ages.
      Signature
Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

Thanks for all the very helpful suggestions. I'm a amateur when it comes to website building, i am willing to admit this because we all have to start from somewhere and am using a website builder from ehost. I had no idea it wasn't being displayed properly, because it shows properly on my laptop when i view it. Clearly i need to clean up my site and make it more organized and user friendly, so any help and advise is always more than welcome, i want to make this a success, and since i don't have the funds to have it done professionally, i hope you don't mind helping me out!

        Thanks so much!
