Google sitemap and Yoast problems

I noticed when submitting a sitemap to google webmaster tools that they don't allow the SEO by Yoast plugin.

Anyone know of an SEO plugin that can be used when we have the google xml sitemap plugin in use ? I am using a themify.me wp theme, which might not be the best idea, but I'm not sure.

The purpose is to try and specify the title and description for each post and page that will show up in google search results.

Thanks.

Yoast plugin have the option to specify the title and description to each post. Also you can disable the xml sitemap in Yoast plugin.

Why on earth would they single out a WordPress plugin like that? I happen to know for a fact that Yoast's sitemaps are ok.

BUT if the plugin doesn't function properly there's a change that Google issues warnings or even disregards the sitemap. I recently stumbled upon a weird problem with their Video SEO plugin. Google wasn't too happy about the negative publishing dates. Still no idea why the plugin didn't work properly, but I just removed those articles for the time being.

Well, sitemap doesn't really help you with that. It's only a collection of existing URLs that you'd like Google to consider for their index.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

As I've experienced recently, it's not Google does the problem, it's the Yoast Plugin. So, we've used this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/ and disabled the Yoast Sitemap.
