A website with a ton of spammy links with irrelevant keyword is redirecting to our website.
is there a way to stop it from our site or I need to make complaints to their hosting provider?

  • Do you have competitors that are likely to implement Negative SEO to affect your business? It's either that, or your site likely was hacked at some point, contained spammy links itself (possibly to a money site) and then those original spammy links are linking to your site, in turn to create a SEO pyramid to someone else's money site. This is a small view of how the BlackHAT SEO process works. It will be tough to get out of unless you can implement 301 redirects for those specific incoming spammy links. This will allow google to reindex the final site as not being yours.

    • This is an indication that your site has been hacked with may be your competitors .It might be quite difficult to find a specific solution to this. The only solution is avoid associating with links from your competitor .Also post relevant content to your website and use appropriate keywords
  • I don't think you guys understood the question.. A completely irrelevant site is redirecting. It has nothing to do with hacking. Any site can redirect to any site easily and you don't need to hack anyone to do that.

    Just disavow it.

    • That makes no sense.

How do you know a site redirects to you?

The host could care less if it's a real spam site.
The host is probably spamming, scamming as well.

You should be able to block referrers using your .haccess file.
      Just google it.

Sure it does? I don't actually care if some link spammed domain is redirecting to me, I just care about the fact that google might think I'm trying to do SEO... Maybe I misunderstood, the question wasn't very complete so I filled in the blanks and you're right that's technically not what he asked.

The host isn't going to do anything about it I'll agree with you completely there.

  • Redirect it back to his site.
  • Yes, You can Disavow those links or just Disavow domain from your Google Webmaster tool.
  • Possibly that website is trying to get visits from your webmaster, i.e. YOU. The redirects or traffic coming from that website may be "automated" or "triggered" using a variety of tools and/ or codes.

Remember that SEO is largely about backlinks and traffic.
  • Where you are able to track the traffic that is coming from the site you are talking about?
