We just recently made a blog post that I just evidently thought that most of the new web owners in WF can benefit from. I have seen this asked countless time on why their site is showing up in the search engines.

I really hope you liked the read.

You use "your" instead of "you're," and that makes your entry lose some credibility =/

How exactly does unoriginal content affect your blog? Let's say you have a site, and you include a blog that you have written via a RSS feed. Will the presence of the original blog out there on the internet negate the benefits of having a feed with fresh content (since it's actually duplicate content from somewhere else)?

Thanks for the informative article. Reason #2, "Your site is new" kind of calmed me down enough to breath. You see, I've got a website which is about 14 days old by now. The thing however is that on its 8th day, it rose to #7 in google's first page but two days later nose-dived to #300+ and stayed somewhere down there even now. I was wondering if I have been penalized or something.

4.) Your not considering on-page optimization.
I do think it is one of the big problem that people often ignore! Maybe we are just too forcusing on the link building thing.

Thanks for the correction EMGhb. As for new sites ranking in the search engines, it takes time to progress. There is really no short cut in terms of ranking high in the search engines. You just got to feed your rankings slowly and as time progresses, you will start to see more results.

Good article, thanks for the tips.

Another big tip for Wordpress users:

You don't have your blog set so there are keywords in your url's.

Jimerson, traffic while from the backlinks is like the icing on the cake, but it will never out rule search engine traffic, ever.

These tips also apply to static websites as well, just so you know.

As for the question on duplicate content, It is up to whomever to decide. It is a really hot debatable topic at the moment, but in my opinion doesn't make a huge significant difference that people claim it to be.
