Ok, i have been struggling to rank for my city pages... I have recently discovered that my main competitor has schema tags on his homepage , state, and city pages... I do not...

Basically when you type in "mobile homes for sale in (city)" or in "(state)" he ranks #1.... and I am not ranking at all... the only difference I can see on the view source code page is he has schema tags and I do not....

Is this something that I am missing? will it help my ranking for small city pages.... Does anyone have experience in this?

Schema markup could help and likely won't hurt, so give it a try.

Also, be sure to include the "rating" tag, as these will often show up as stars in the Google SERPs and attract attention to your listing. Ranking isn't the objective, getting clicks is.

Another thing is to use Schema mark up for any embedded videos, including YT videos you use on your pages. This could help as well.

    Hmmm!

Do you think by putting a schema on your website will get you to the ranking that you want? Did you check your competitors' backlinks? How quality they are compared to yours?

Using schema can help search engines to parse the page contents in a proper way rather that just guessing around. This may have some good impact on showing up in search results but up to what extent, doesn't know.

      What's going on here?

You're OP & saying you hope it goes well for OP.

      Anyways...

The best I can suggest is reverse engineer what you see happening in the SERPs, those are things working today.

The schema site has a bunch of info. but it's very flaky, like the documentation was never finished.

the biggest, and the competitor im talking about is mhbay.com, they have schema all over there website... Is their way, the proper way to use it i assume?
