  • Steer completely clear of Article Directories, and ignore anyone who tells you otherwise.

They had some value 7 or 8 years ago, but those days are long gone.

Certain ones are still fine... You have to figure out if the directory has been penalized for being a content farm. If it's a directory with thousands of spun articles I don't know why you would want a link from it. You also have to understand that it's going to be a link of extremely low value because there's little or no links pointed to it.

There's some niche directories that require unique content and manual review and those work. If you throw goarticles.com into your favorite SEO tool and look at the keyword positions, you can clearly see it was penalized in 2013, so that's a waste of your time.

It's a link, you just evaluate it the same way you would any other one.

If the directory in question resembles Ezine Articles in 2009, yea, it's bad. Now you know why EZA has nofollow links in 2015, Google dropped the hammer.
  • I get stats from EzineArticles every month and there's not much traffic coming from there...

    Traffic has been steadily decreasing.

Having said that, I don't post new articles there anymore.

    • Article marketing used to be awesome for links. But have dwindled down over the years and not what they used to be. I suggest steering clear of article directories completely if you are just starting out.
