Should we be worried about portals?

Hello Warriors,
nowadays I see more and more portals being created.
With portals I mean directories which leads to services in local areas (such as plumbers, restaurants, and so on).
Some examples could be "Justeat", "Yellowpages" itself, "Habitissimo" and maybe even "Tripadvisor".
Would this have any negative effect on us SEO experts?
The reason why I have this doubt is because I often see them ranked in local keywords, even if they are directories and not "local" companies.
I wanted to know your opinion on this.
