Did you take the content without permission? If so then you need to remove it asap. If you fail to do so you could get sued.

I'm not sure if you need to do anything. Someone has asked Google to remove content, and they notified you about it. I'd remove the offending content, or file a counter complaint if it's possible.

Google posts some information on the content they remove. The volumes are huge.

I'm not an expert on this, but it would seem possible that DMCA removal request could be sort of a red mark for your site.

Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

You contradicted yourself i think. You said you're not sure if he needs to do something then you say you would remove the content lol. Not sure if you caught that. But anyways yes he needs to remove the content he took without permission or he COULD get introuble pretty sure.

btw not trying to sound mean to you nett

That's not a contradiction. I'm not sure if any of this matters, because Google is not a copyright police and they often seem to not care that much. This DMCA business is something they need to do because they're from US. I would still remove the content if it was on my site AND if I was violating copyrights just to be on the safe side.

Unfortunately it's not clear from this thread. OP has not said what he's done, just that there's a DMCA notice. Even though it's a felony to file one that's not accurate the bigger companies are known to thrown them around like confetti.
