Hello guys.

I have set up a Migraine Blog, with a story written from one of my testimonials with recommendations to my product at the bottom of the page.

The first question I want to ask is whether I should hard sell this or soft sell?

- Should I add banners or leave it without banners?
- Should I say how amazing it is and chat about it for 300 words or leave it with a couple of sentences?

As for the PPC campaign its self, I have just got to the stage of setting up the campaign and adding advertisements then realised I don't know what to write.

Should I be writing the advert, promoting the story or promoting the product?

If I write the advert promoting the story will I get as many people and won't the people be untargeted?

Where as if I promote the product people will be targeted but not interested in the story?

What to do, what to do =D

Thanks guys.

    Hi willyboy104,

Why not try both? I would test both approaches to see which works best. That's the great thing about PPC advertising, you can get quick answers to questions like these.

Hey Willy, congrats on the site .. I loved it from the start, just never got around to building a campaign for it.

    As dburk said, try both.

But if you are driving traffic to the blog, my first instinct would be to target the story and provide nice comprehensive text with a softer sell. No banners.

    Reason being 2 fold:

    A) Transparency. Everyone (+ G) loves transparency, and you will have more longevity with the campaign if you pitch the story instead of the product.

    B) In your niche most anyone willing to click through is a sufferer, so the waste on un-targeted folk would be minimized.

My 2 cents off the cuff.

    Cheers

Think about it from the point of view of the person entering the info.

Understand the keyword conversation. In your market there is a great one

headache as a keyword and headaches as a keyword

one letter difference but very different in terms of the searcher.

the person who types in headache most likely has one, and looking for some info.

the person who types in headaches is suffering on a regular basis, and is looking for a solution, perhaps even medical treatment.

The keywords you are targetting, will all have a different meaning to the person who typed them into google, so when thinking what to write, base it on the keyword.

If that means you need single keyword ad groups with, with a A/B test of the ads then thats what you do. I don't know your website, so I can't be specific but let's say I typed in " migraine relief " to Google. I am saying I want it to go away, the ad for that keyword should be telling me you have a migraine relief solution for me. If I click through, then use your story to help convince me your product is what I need. At the time of the search I don't care about anything else but getting rid of the pain.

Hope that helps with your ad writing .

    Dave
