Is there a way to keep my rankings and change my domain name?

If so -- how do I do it?

Thanks

    Hi Oilman,

Yes, you can change your domain name and quickly re-establish your rankings for the new domain.

You need to keep the old domain live for a while and 301 redirect your old pages to the same page on your new domain. Over a period of several weeks all your pagerank will transfer to the new URLs. Just make sure it's a 301 redirect and NOT a 302.

The longer you keep these redirects in place the better. You will want to contact as many of the webmasters that have linked to you as possible to ask them to update their links. I would suggest that you keep the current domain live and redirecting for at least a year, longer if you still have important backlinks pointing at the old domain.
