    Powerful backlink means the links from high authority (well know ) sites. They became powerful because of the mentioning on those sites, just like the difference between a degree from a local university and MIT/USC.

    The most powerful backlinks are those that you had nothing to do with getting.
    They are powerful as Google's algorithm is constantly being tweaked to reward those more highly and devalue/penalize those that you had something to do with getting.

    The most powerful backlinks are the ones which come from high authority sites. Think of it as if a huge company with massive credibility is giving your site, video, article, etc a recommendation.

    Hey.

    Instead of saying powerful lets say a really good link. This would be a link from a strong site (not necessarily an authority site), a site with good Domain and authority, and page Authority, a site with a good social flow and healthy engagement. This would be a good link. But to make that link really count then the site should be related to your market, if not then the topic of the page that your link is on should be discuss something related to your market - your link then would be there to add extra value to the reader. Google loves this - Readers love it to. Win, Win!

    Authority (powerful) Backlinks are from Websites with good/high Page Rank and very good Online Metrics.

    Very simple answer to your question here.

    A website with a high page rank - is an Authority site that is pretty much popular online. It receives good daily traffic, it has many pages ranking in the search engines, it has been online for a lot of years, and things like that.

    You also want to look for the website's authority - by using online tools. Look at the site's metrics. Because there might be sites that are old, and have good page rank, but then have no good traffic coming daily, because someone probably was working on the domain name but then decided to stop and sold the domain. And someone new bought it and now is just publishing crappy content.

    So you always want to check more than just the website's page rank. But in general, a backlink from a high page rank site is a good backlink.
