front page issues

hello there,


i am planning to change wordpress theme, but there is one problem. currently i am using theme which has no separate page for homepage, it has a simple layout and displays latest posts on front page. The theme i am going to buy has seperate page which is then used as a front page. at this point i am afraid that if i creat new page and make it as a static front page i will loose PA and links on my homepage.

what do you think?

  • Two things:

    1) Losing PA doesn't matter. It is not a ranking factor.

    2) If the URL is the same, you are not going to lose links. Your homepage is still mydomain.com whether you change to a static page or not.

    so you are saying that this won't cause any problems to my pa or backlinks??

    • It doesn't change your URL. Your homepage is still mydomain.com, just like it is now. Do it and see for yourself.

      As for PA, who cares? Your PA could drop to negative numbers. It does not change your rankings.
