Forum Profile Links...

I'm trying to find out if homepage links in forum profiles have any "link" value? I know that there is credit given to links in forum signatures, but how does the Big G find links in a profile? But somehow I'm sure it can... But does it count?

Please post your experiences or opinions. Thanks

  • I think that some do. I can see some shoiw up on my google backlinks. Some more show up on yahoo and msn.

    • Given the number of forums I see the search engines crawling, and they are looking at a particular member's profile, I have to believe that yes they have an affect.

    I don't think its a good idea....I cannot think of anchor text that will match your profile link... unlike in signatures that you can do anything.
  • SolidSnake, I'm not sure I understand. I think that the OP is talking about links within their profile to their site-in the spot that many profile have for a link to your own site. Not an anchor text written link back elsewhere.

      Oh I'm sorry... Anyway, I still don't think it's a good idea..
  • Well ... there is no harm to put your link in your profile. So you should go ahead. If google do not track them than some how you can manage to get some traffic.

    I do believe that put your URL every where (If there is no harm)
  • You should go ahead and check your self ... you will ask this question here and in some other forums as well. So instead of asking you should try and implement. I am sure you will be more satisfy ...
