How to get rid of referral spam?

Hi,

The referral spam on my website is getting ridiculous now, it is ruining my analytics data. Does anyone have experience with this and knows the proper way to get rid of it? There are many different solutions on the internet but what is the best one?

    you can block those by creating a filter in those sites in google analytics

    Or you can use 301 redirects ... also use other analytics tools like gostats to verify the traffic

    I recently faced a similar issue on my website. The traffic seemed to be coming from -
    "top1-seo-service.com / referral"

    And visiting that site takes to semalt.com
    This seems like a new spam technique to generate visits.

    Doing a quick search on google showed up some useful pages that explain how to get rid of these spam referrals in your analytics data -

    Stop top1-seo-service.com referral in Google Analytics (Guide)
    Stop top1-seo-service.com referral spam in Google Analytics | Tech & Internet Security | News & Guides

    You have to create filters in google analytics which will block data from these referrals.

    Another way is by creating htaccess rules to block the traffic entirely.
