Odd keyword research results

Not sure how to read this result. One term i looked for on googles searched based tool only had 66 monthly searches, no competition but the suggested bid for adwords was over 3 dollars?

Why would a term so infrequently searched for command a fairly high price for ppc?

How do we read into that kind of result?

Incidentally mods if im overdoing the thread opening rate with my questions do let me know!

Lots of things keep popping into my mind as i'm going along!:p

Search frequency has no bearing on cost. If this is a competitive niche, then dozens of competing advertisers probably have many, many low-volume keywords on their lists.

so from our point of veiw (marketers) search volume is more important than how much advertiser r paying for ppc?

Well, it depends on what you are using the generated traffic for.

If you are going to monetize your blog/site using Adsense, then it will matter what PPC marketers are paying for the specific keyword phrase (ie. the higher the CPC, the greater the cost per click that you'll make).

But, if you are going to use affiliate programs and CPA offers to generate income, how much CPC (cost per click) won't matter as much.

It depends on whether or not you're paying it or getting paid FROM it.

It tends to be (not always) that keywords with a high bid are more valuable to market against. Thus whether you are looking to profit via AdSense or Ebooks or CPA, you will theoretically do better on a keyword with a higher bid. Think about it this way - if an advertiser is willing to pay $3 just to get someone to click to their site, they must be figuring to make a decent amount of money from the visitor. If you own the keyword (aka, #1 result) that profit is potentially yours.
