It sounds like you are talking about PageRank. You will never see the PageRank change for your site. Google stopped releasing PageRank data publicly over 2 years ago.

PageRank has nothing to do with rankings or traffic. PageRank is a measure of the quality of incoming links to a page.

How do you track your positions on SERPs? What have you done so far?

There's so little information that "publish some relevant content and acquire a few decent backlinks" would answer your question. It's just impossible to give any decent suggestions if there's nothing to work on.

If you're just trying to increase traffic then yes, some kind of advertising may work. Advertising doesn't have an effect on your rankings. Buying traffic is usually a poor idea because it's usually either bots or people who aren't really interested in your site/products.

Sure it's ok assuming the ad links are nofollow but other than that it has nothing to do with SEO. Paid ads is direct traffic, not organic SERP traffic (SEO).

This depends on what type of links you are using, ie.

    Social Signals
    PBNs
    Whitehat links
    etc.

And also how competitive the niche is. Do you mind giving more details about the site?

I pity the fools that pay you any money....unless that was a joke.

The OP's question has no answer.

If the site is indexed, it ranks for something immediately.

It may or may not, ever rank for your intended keywords. The
competition may be so well entrenched and never move.

But yeah...go ahead. Wait 3 years and let us know.

I really hope that was a joke. Explanation is not required.

To the OP. Look into the 'Google Sandbox Effect'.

There are so many ranking factors that google takes into consideration that we can't, don't and most likely will never know them all.

Thankfully though there are internet marketeers out there who do case studies and publish their data. Through repeated trial and error, individual experience, shared knowledge like this forum and lots of intelligent guesstimates we know a lot about what google likes and does not like. Google is all knowing and ever changing. Keep up with it as best you can.

As far as your question: In the beginning stages of your sites release your rankings are not reliable. This being the first few days after index, first few weeks and first few months. Do not pay attention to Google PR it is now useless for the most part. It is a factor though in competition analysis but that is a different topic.

Ultimately it can take anywhere from 1-3 months to 3-7 months for your site to settle down in the rankings. If you make a chnage today that does not mean google will see it and help you or hurt you the following day because of it. It takes time. You may not know the results of your work for quite some time.

I wish you the best and I hope this helps.

EDIT: If you are interested in metrics like PR I would like to make a few suggestions to you. There are a few really good sites like MOZ that shares insights on each indexed page on the web. There are other metrics you can follow. To many to list but here are a few Domain Authority (DA), Page Authority (PA), mozRank, etc,. There are some really amazing tools/services called MOZ, SEO Quake, SEM Rush and Ahrefs. they all offer metrics for you to analyze your site and others.

And OP, you should really forget about this hypothesis immediately after you've read it. Sandbox effect is more or less imaginary, and you don't need that sort of explanation for a new site in any case. The default state of any new site is to rank poorly.

There's a bunch of people on WF who just whine about "being sandboxed". They seem to concentrate on the blame game more than actually doing something that helps their site.

There is no benefit of buying traffic which is not interested in your website. here are few steps you need to follow :

          1) Do keywords research
          2) Add quality content
          3) Share your posts on social websites like Facebook, Twitter
          , LinkedIn etc
          4) Monitor the performance with different tools like
Google webmaster, Google Analytics. To monitor traffic you can use statcounter website and to monitor keywords rank you can use serpfox.

Instead of monitoring Page Rank check Domain Authority and Page Authority.

You have been a member since 2010, have you ever read the SEO forum during the last 2 years, or seen the countless posts telling folks Google PR is no longer publicly updated?

If you mean ranking in the SERP's that will depend on your keywords.

No, the basics for SEO have never changed. Followed links + plain text still rank pages today just like it did in 2001.

What changes is link schemes from folks looking to make a quick buck.

No. Traffic is not a ranking signal. And sandbox is something you should just ignore.

The source for this hypothesis was probably just a misunderstanding. A Google rep said that some of their spam controls may produce effects that may feel like a sandbox. It's likely that here's no such mechanism.

If your daily content is good enough to get you backlinks, why not. You probably at least need to advertise your pieces in social media or some other way. Yes, you will need some decent backlinks to rank for anything that matters.

Or use some other 3rd party metric. Moz's ones are popular, but they're not that great.

However, it's more important to watch actual SE rankings than these metrics. Get a SERP tracker.

You don't need to buy one. Actually desktop software tends to be a bit of a hassle because you still need a bunch of proxies to actually get any data from Google.

I'm using Rankwatch, but there are several decent services.

As you have point out that your site is new and the page rank of your sites is zero. I would like to say you that google have stopped releasing the page rank, but you will come to know about the traffic from analytic tool. Your site is new so it will take time to rank on SERP so you need to patience and yes don't try to make massive links for your website otherwise Google keep your website in the sandbox and think you are the spammer.
