I have the opportunity to insert a backlink into an article that is 6 to 12 months old, but from high authority blog. If the blog posting was published 6 to 12 months ago, does the inserted backlink lose any of its authority since this was not a recent blog posting?

Your help is always appreciated!

I don't think so, I'd rather say this can actually help since the old article probably has more juice - if it's authorative then there's a good chance than other websites linked to it over time.

From an editor's point of view, I think it's reasonable to re-visit older articles to update them, so I think it should be pretty natural for Google as well.

    Just my 5 cents.

  • is the page nofollow? if so then it doesn't matter. you won't gain anything unless you're getting direct clicks to your link.

Thank you both for your replies. Thanks for reminding me about the no follow. The link in the blog will not have a no follow. I did notice that some of her postings have the no follow tag, but I been inform that this link will not have a no follow tag.
