Hiya,

Are back links from gumtree any good?

Let's say I describe my business in an ad (500+ words article style) and link back to my website. The content will be relevant, but do the links weight anything in terms of SEO? Gumtree charges £14.99 for including a link in an ad.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to get back links for my construction business which has been doing great for some time now, but I can't get any high DA links as there's not too many websites in the UK about construction where I could link back from!

Thank you.

  • nope it will not do anything for your rankings. You will get direct traffic however.

A well worded advertisement in the right place with links direct to your service page will only ever do you good even if it isn't exactly what you were hoping for.

I would advise you to set up a blog, Twitter account and Facebook page if you haven't already and publish content based around what you do and then link share that content to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Make sure you follow everyone in your local area including other local businesses and show them some link love too.

There is a great tool called if this then that or ittt which allows you to connect all your social media profiles and chose a time to automatically update them with your newest blog content/special offers etc.

I'm not sure if you have tried a reciprocal linking service, but thats a pretty good way, i've used that method in the past and did pretty good. What your looking for is relevant niche discovery for your construction site, a quick way is to do a search on google for similar sites. If your in the same niche chances are that they would be more interested in reciprocal linking with your site, you just have to contact them and ask them if they have a place where they would allow their link on their site. I hope that helps a little for you.
