let me give an example...A site is called example.com and has subdomains that they are targeted for seo for particular city (i.e.ahmedabad.example.com,vadodara.examples.com,r ajkot.example.com).
What would be the best way to approach this situation for SEO?
#seo #subdomain

Only links to the root directory will be not enough in this case. You will have to build relevant links (links from same city, state or any other form)to each of your sub-domains. And also the on-page optimization you will have to do separately for each sub-domain.

In the parent website i.e example.com here you can create the banners linked and redirected to other domains i.e vadodara.examples.com,ahmedabad.example.com. Next step while doing off page you can link the sub domain websites. These will help to get black links for the domains and sub - domains also.

Each of these subdomains is a new site. Do you have any solid reason to use this kind of structure? I'd say it's a bit easier to create one strong site, and not a bunch of weak ones.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

hi nettiapina, each sub domain targeted particular city and each sub domain have different products like ahmedabad targeted for electronic items than vadodara targeted for home appliances

This is something I've been playing with for a year, about about to scale.

Each subdomain is considered it's own site. Optimize and link to them like they are standing on their own. If you can, get links from the parent domain pointing to each one.

If you link down to them from the main domain, the strength passes, and the age/trust is lifted. Like the main domain vouching for the subdomain.

You can link between subdomains and control the flow of strength, the same as sculpting your PageRank back in the day. Interlink and borrow strength from semi-related subdomains when you can.

Then go buy links, or get creative and build them.

Ranking a sub domain difficult compare to a whole website... but if you still want to rank your subdomain then it will be good to add in webmaster individually and their sitemap as well.

What you have done for your domain promotion, do the same thing for your sub-domain promotion. And if you have a strong authority and top ranking of your domain then you have no need to create such types of sub-domain. It only increase your work load and consumes you time.
