SEO for Ranking Images?

Can anyone point me to some good recent information on at least the basic things I can do to give my images the best chance of ranking in image search? By the way, I have a Wordpress blog.

    Alt tag, title tag, and filename are the basics. OpenGraph and captions if you want to take it a step further.

    If you're working with local, add geographical meta data.

    Hi friend,
    When posting on your WP blog, do you notice about title tag or the image?
    as my habit, i often set title tag for my image and it is indexed along with my site.

    Be sure to add alt and title tags for them. There is nothing specific to rank images, but they could help you rank for a few keywords!

    The strongest ranking factor for images is strong followed backlinks pointing directly at the image URL (not page URL). Everything else is weak (image alt text, file name, etc...).
