I Rank First on Google.com and Nowhere on Google.co.uk, Why?

When I search for the string "Portrait Photographer Reading Berkshire" Google.com places me first. When I do the same thing in Google.co.uk I am simply not listed. Clearly everything about my website is good otherwise Google.com would not rank me first. I have no duplicate content. If I did Google.com would not list me first. So why is Google.co.uk having a problem when Google.com is not.

  • It's no surprise that the search results for the same keyword will be different for Google.com and Google.co.uk because Google gives results based on location.

I'm guessing that your website is very US specific which is why Google thinks it shouldn't be listed in the results for Google.co.uk.

This also depends on the nature of the keyword. Some keywords won't have much difference between the results in Google.com vs Google.co.uk while others may have a completely different results. For eg. a keyword like "Best SEO Practices" may have similar listing in both Google sites while a keyword like "car repair nearby" may have completely different results in both the sites.

    Hope this helps

    • That's weird "Berkshire" is in England and you're not ranking there, I know something about local SEO which is : if you want to rank high in a country than in another then you should build backlinks from site in the targeted country, for example in your case : you should build more backlinks fro .co.uk sites to rank your site high in google.co.uk plus can't your rank you site in the UK using Google webmasters tools by choosing specific country?!

In that case I should be ranked higher on Google.co.uk.

      You guessed wrong.

Again then, I should have ranked higher on Google.co.uk.
