Not all sites showing up in google alerts

I track new links / brand mentions using google alerts with the following search phrase :
"Company Name" OR "http://companywebsite.com" -site:pinterest.com
(Pinterest is excluded as we get allot of mentions on Pinterest that we dont really need to know about)
Whats odd is that i know some other sites are linking to us and talking about us but they dont always show up, infact often the better the site say Domain Authority 30-50 site may not show up, but we get lots of spam scraped blogs.
Any ideas why this might be ?
