Try the SEO forum. Also, you should not promote your site in your posts. Put it in your signature.

The world is changing so quickly and there are so many things out of your control.

However, I'll share a few tips that won't steer you wrong:

#1 - Learn what business you are 'really' in.

More than ever your message is your brand and your brand is your message.

In a recent IBM survey, 80% of respondents said that brands/businesses were in no way relevant to their needs, wants or desires.

In the B2B 2015 Web Useability Report nearly 50% of respondents said the #1 reason they left a website immediately was due to a lack of message.

Notice that has nothing to do with SEO or getting traffic.

But it does have to do with earning and attracting those who are able, willing and ready to buy from you.

You have to create a message that is relevant to the problems, needs, wants and/or desires of your audience.

#2 - Consider adding other forms of relevant content. Maybe it's a blog, podcast or video; or a combination.

Great content will help you with attracting an audience.

#3 - Figure out who serves the same audience you do but in a different way and start networking with them online through their blog, social pages or more...

Hope that helps. I could probably write a dissertation on this but I'll stop there. lol...

In many ways SEO in 2016 is the same as it has been in 2015 and 2014.

But, here are the main changes we see this year, these changes will require you to tweak a bit your SEO tactics and strategy (mainly strategy if you counted on shortcuts and "easy ranking"):

    Intention
Thats the biggest change, Google can recognize the user intention and according to it display search results which means that in a way Keywords don't rule in the same way they used to.

    Long tails
They are even more important then before - on top of what you did previously add to the equation that voice search is here and its here not to stay but to dominate, tweak your thinknig accordingly.

    Mobile
    Enough said.

Social content and Video got married, hail the King and Queen
When social and Video making love your babies are first on Google's page
Google started to index more and more social networks, Google is in love with videos, do 1+1 and you will get millions

    User experience
More than even in 2016 this is going to be one of the biggest changes, it correlates also with user intent. So, make sure users are happy with your site, that it loads fast, easy to use and that they are not leaving you too fast.

Here is a full and deeper overview of the 2016 SEO things you need to know .

Social Reputation, Social Sharing, Quality Content (optimized with user in mind rather than Search Engines), ensure your content is not breaking SEO rules, know your low competition long tail keywords and weave your content around it, make use of intent based keywords. Generally they are the good start for solid SEO.

Be consistent, patient and always keep learning (as SEO is ever changing territory).

Just to make sure there will be no confusion, social signals don't effect ranking directly:

They can make you site rank higher indirectly (if many people share your page it makes sense more people will link to it, since more people are exposed to it)

No. It doesn't make sense. Most people on social media do not own sites. The ones that do, generally only use social media to promote their sites and do not have time to read the insane flood of spam and comments from borderline retards. If they do read a post, it's likely from somebody they already know or is another site owner.

Once in a blue moon, I will actually read some of the discussions on my social media accounts. It takes at least a 12 pack to regain any faith in humanity what so ever. I would post some of it to failblog, but it's so stupid it isn't funny, to anybody, it's just sad. Do you really think these people know how to install wordpress and rank a site?...

Awhile ago, I had a woman and her "gang of goons" attack one of my social media accounts and tried to tell me that "sugar is a slimming food." I won't even get into the religious stuff, trust me, they don't even know their own religion, but yet they preach it and judge others. Yeah, I'm sure Jesus created sugarcane so you can loose weight even though you are clearly 300lbs in your profile picture. I've also gotten death threats on some of my pen name accounts. Great! So you're going to threaten to kill a person who doesn't even exist, amazing!

There's a number of tactics I've learned to "engage" with my followers. Do you think I actually read their responses? ROFL, yeah right... OK... You know what got a lot of traffic for me recently? I asked what team was going to win the super bowl... I can only describe what occurred next as a sh1t storm. I want to be 100% clear about this, I have zero sites about sports...

hmmm, I think you missed my point.
Social signals don't help SEO unless you got such an exposre to your stuff that some percent (1%? 0.01%?, 0.00001%?) will write about it in their blogs (there are so many examples of this happening). So if you had an amazing article that got shared like crazy it will eventually drive links to it from the shares. But, I won't count my SEO strategy on it.

Trust me, social media works much better when you realize it has zero effect on SEO. I know were both on the same page but I really think you need to separate the two concepts entirely in your mind. Some people have said "screw SEO" and focused 100% on social media and driving traffic to their sites and become extremely successful that way. Their sites don't rank for anything in Google and they don't care because they get 30k UV a day from FB.

            • Here are six important SEO strategies outside of the basics, that are critical to getting to -- or staying at -- the top of the search engines in 2016.

              1. Create an influencer who is a subject-matter expert.

              2. Develop a content-marketing strategy.

              3. Generate powerful backlinks to your site and pages.

              4. Get your website mobile-ready.

              5. Move your website to HTTPS, a secure site.

              6. Add schema.org markup to your website.
