Hi all,

I have a site which is for carpet cleaning in Birmingham

But wish to advertise for other areas such as Redditch, Droitwich, Halesowen ect

Now I've seen some sites which have on there there homepage

Carpet cleaning Halesowen
Carpet cleaning Redditch
Carpet cleaning Droitwich

Say a list of 6 or 7 areas and then when you click the page it shows the same content for each page except they have changed the location keyword.

I obviously want to promote my site to as many areas as possible, but don;t want to harm my site in any way

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks Paco8723

    It's duplicate / low quality.

Put in the effort to make each page different.

A quick hack is to rewrite the Chamber of Commerce's homepage (or any page with public info about the city) for each of those different cities, and include a bit more content about your client's keyword, how they've serviced the area for x # of years.

Put up a bit of information about the town, population, major attractions, just information about the city. Include a map of the longitude and latitude from the city on the page, to give Google a bit more to go off of.

Link from the smaller city pages to the main city that your client services, and then build links to the smaller pages.

Thanks for your reply, I think different content for each page is the way forward then.

Yes, it is duplicate content. I've seen it too. I know an insurance guy who has it on his site; doesn't do him any good... Would be much better to add information...

Of course, it costs more (money or time) to create additional content that converts... But, then, your whole site benefits...

In theory, Google will penalize you for it. In practice, it might mean it won't let you get in the top 3 positions for any of the keywords for the duplicate content pages... But, if you have enough of them, #4 might get you all the business you require.
