Localized Google Search Result

Hi All,

I made a search in Google Singapore using "Payroll" as keyword. Then, I made another search using "Payroll Singapore" as keyword. Surprisingly, the search results were different

Any idea what is the reason? If my client website ranked quite well in "Payroll Singapore" keyword but the website is out of Top 100 using "Payroll" keyword, what should I do to improve the rank using "Payroll" keyword?

You need to utilize properly the keyword "Payroll" in the Meta Tags of that web page for which you are doing link building at the moment.

    Why surprisingly?

Backlinks with 'payroll' as anchor text from pages about payroll would change that.

By right, if it's a localized search, there won't be any difference whether we have "Singapore" as a keyword because we are using Google Singapore for the searching. But I am wrong. That's why I am a bit confused

I can be searching for Singapore something, and I'm not in Singapore. You, using Google Singapore could be searching for something that's not in Singapore.

So keyword is not the same as Singapore + keyword.

Understand that you could be searching for something outside of Singapore. Therefore, you will be adding the country as the keyword

For my case, I am searching for something in Singapore using Google Singapore. If the localization is working, why do I need to use "Singapore" in keyword? The search engine should know that I am looking for something in Singapore. Please correct me

How would it know you're looking for something in Singapore? Just because you're using Google Singapore? What if lots of people use Google Singapore when looking for things anywhere in the world? They'd type payroll in the search bar, maybe even payroll Madrid Spain, for instance.

The point you are missing is that
            payroll
            and
            payroll Singapore
are two different keywords, with different competitors... The ones(s) in Singapore are not, it seems, the best at SEO.

My suggestions is Don't target generic keywords its is very difficult to rank use long tails keywords and make backlink for them
Thanks for the suggestion. I found some articles saying that Google is not using the meta tag keyword anymore. Is meta tag keyword still useful for SEO? I am curious about it

Let's do it step by step. Using keyword "Payroll" in Google Singapore and Google Indonesia returns me different Search Result. Does that mean the search result is a localized search result?
