How do subdomains affect search ranking?

    Some people say you get a boost to subdomains, or might get crawled faster to at least be indexed.


    I am not totally sure, but I know that the content on your page will often be much more important then domain "credit"

    They are treated as totally separate sites so they does not effect each others rankings much. As in google has many sub-domains which are totally different sites such as analytics, adsense, adwords, gmail etc.

      This is the correct answer. Setting up a new subdomain doesn't affect anything, and you're essentially starting from scratch with that subdomain.
