Indexing links - experienced people only

Hi guys,

I have a question about getting links indexed..... I am not looking to get a new site indexed, I want to get links indexed which link through to my site.

It seems that I get very very inconsistent results. I do the following:-

Social bookmarking - Jumptags, Digg etc
Load Youtube video with link in the description field
WF and DP signature
Existing PR blog (hosted via blogger) - PR of 3/4

Note that the pages which I use are getting indexed, so my blogger posts and Youtube videos are getting indexed, however the links arent getting indexed.

Another point is how do I ensure the links stay indexed? Obviously if I am doing social bookmarking etc and my link is on a high PR site (for instance one of Angelas), then what is to stop my link being de-indexed and thus de-valued.

Anyone can share any experience relating to this and any tips?

  • How do you know the links are not indexed? According to Google:

You can perform a Google search using the link: operator to find a sampling of links to any site

Note the use of the word sampling.

Of course you can use Webmaster Tools to get a bigger sample but even if you do:

Note: Not all links to your site may be listed. This is normal.

There is no way to find out what links are in Google's index. It is a vain pursuit. freetraf put out a great video explaining why this is so. You can see it here:

    • Yes, If the links are cached/indexed we cannot sure that is counted as backlink, but now the issue is check whether the particular page is being indexed(Cached) by google or not.

I do hve the same issue and had followed the ways which you hve done. I did not get index for all, then when I asked some one, they advised me to be active on the site where I get links, say If I get link from the profile page of PR6 domain, then check some blogs there and do comment here and there etc... Had followed that way... that works for some again not for all......

At the end, what I conculde is, instead of wasting my time like this, it is better to have 5 links from PR4+ domain instead of 1 link from PR6+ domain - I just assumed like that, and continue with the sites which worked for me and removed others from my list .....

      Hope it helps,
