Hi,

I wanted to start a tumblr blog for some backlinks.
However I noticed that the links you place in the article are all redirect links like this.
http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3...RSZ2U5MA%3D%3D

Do links like this count for seo?
#backlinks #count #links #redirect #seo

Seriously? Either you have no clue what "black hat" and "redirect" mean, or you need to stop taking the drugs that make you so paranoid. This is a common tactic. Tumblr is probably just counting the clicks or something.

Some redirected links may help with SEO, but I've not looked at this particular case.

I don`t understand why these people pose as specialists and give bad advice on every topic. They don`t have any gain in this and are hurting the forum...
If you don`t have any clue about IM it`s pretty hard to know which is the true info

Tumblr links are nofollow that will not past any ranking to your main page. Though it can increase traffic to your website if you are having useful content to post with your niche interested people/follower.

From what I remember (hadn`t used tumblr in a while) the links from tumblr don`t have the nofollow attribute so that means that they will pass link juice.
I don`t know why they are using redirects, but in this case you won`t have any problem with the links counting for your SEO.
Stop listening to the people that tell you that this is blackhat SEO. They probably don`t know what BH SEO is.
    You won`t have any problems.

Ha. Tumblr is great for traffic, but yeah, not vital for SEO.

If the purpose is to instantly and properly redirect the user or crawler why on earth would Google use this intermediate site to add value to the backlink?

Those are not redirected links that people are talking about.

Those are scripted forwarding links....BIG difference.

    Links created using forwarding services,
(or "link shorteners,") found in goo.gl,
youtube, twitter, etc., are considered 301.
So they are permanent redirects of real links.
Depends on when and how you use them.
Whether you use domain.com, or a url
shortener like I mentioned, makes no
difference. They should count the same.
Google (supposedly) has a limit on 301,
as far as in a chain. Many people try and
forward a forward of a forward, on so on, 6 degrees
of separation, and think they can link wash.
    That's hogwash.

The one that you gave as an example is not a backlink.
