Sub domain Vs Sub directory

Hi I have some doubts in sub domain..

For (eg)
Consider I have a site with many pages, I can't afford to host in single server, so I chose to create as 3 sub domains..

After creating 3 sub domains and do same amount of SEO for all 3 pages.. Traffic will be good for all those 3 sub domain. But I need to take all those traffic from the sub domains to the main URL(home page)..I don't want traffic to get split.

Is there any way to take the traffic to main domain through webmaster tool or by any other method??

  • That's a great use for the cross-domain rel=canonical. But this is much more a user experience and a branding experience issue than it is a technical SEO one, because both of these work pretty darn well...
  • I`m not sure if I completely understand what you are trying to achieve. Do you want that all of the traffic that is coming to the subdomains to be redirected to your main page?
    If that is true, then you can easily achieve it through a 301 redirect.
