Backlinking a brand new domain

How quickly should you start backlinking a new domain besides doing the obvious links from Social Media sites (twitter, fb, IG, etc.)?

  • You can start right away. Just do a little each week. Don't do too much at once. Shoot for a good number like 5-10 backlinks per week and then move up to 20 per week after a few weeks.

One tip: Make sure to build backlinks on sites that relate to your industry. If you build backlinks on sites that have nothing to do with your industry Google could penalize you.

    • You mean like spamming forums like your sig link?
What's the connection between your site and warriorforum?
Is your site an SEO/IM forum?

I often wonder if you people actually read what they write.

A lot of you in this thread have got to be bots...but no.
I can't believe the crapola written by people who have no clue, yet tout their SEO services....

    • This advice is about right!

You need to make these backlinks look as natural as possible.

5 to 10 backlinks a week should be fine.

I would keep it at a 5 a week (one a day) for the first month and then grow the numbers little by little.

Backlinks are more about Consistency than anything else. If you give your site one backlink a day, for a year and more, watch your organic traffic grow!

High quality content that is well optimized has to be included in this equation, by the way.

      Hope this helps!

      Cheers!
  • Why would you wait to start?

And ignore the advice above. Build as many good links as you want. Don't do something silly like limit yourself to 5-10 per week if you can get more.

  • I want to engage a SEO compay but I am very scared of all the changes in SEO. I am looking for someone who can provide some kind of guarantee of their work but looks no one is willing to. What can I do? Any suggestions?

    • Good Starting friend, but you are only person in SEO Sector that take guaranteed to stable your site rank
    • Yes, SEO is ever-changing. You should hire SEO Agency carefully.

If you have time by your side you need to make sure you do some basic learning about SEO.

When you Hire some SEO company for work ; You can understand what they talk about.
  • So do you mean to say that no one trust their work and so they will not provide guarantee? All businesses provide some kind of guarantee/assurance. This is kinda weird. What am I supposed to do in such a situation?
    • [2] replies
    • You could have some sort of "or your money back" type of guarantee, but I'm not sure if that many SEO companies do that. They're providing a service and doing actual work even if it's not that effective.

The difficulty and the length of the project always depend on the situation. A good SEO provider should be able to tell you roughly what to expect after they've evaluated your situation, even though it's impossible to say when there's a black box known as Google.

    • Actually you can get SOME assurances but only if they do white hat SEO. You cannot be guaranteed rankings in Google because thats out of the control of a SEO. However if its white hat SEO then real sites will link to you and real sites generally with some real traffic.

Black and Grey hat SEO seldom link build with real sites with real readers who would visit your site. Its mostly about ranking you on a third party site - Google.

P.S. What you see advertised on this forum as White Hat Seo is NOT white hat - its mostly just manual link spam. White hat has to have real sites link to you with approval of the webmaster.

    • Ignore this crap.

Not all businesses do. A financial advisor will not guarantee that your accounts will grow or that you will reach your retirement goals. Lawyers usually do not guarantee outcomes, and the ones that do generally only take on cases that are pretty much a slam dunk.

I could go on with more examples, but I think you get the idea.

  • Start slowly and go up every day.

After a month so you are 99% safe. After a year you are 99.99% safe.

Of course all this goes if the content is non-spammy and you don't over do the SEO with something silly.

    • Wrong. There is zero reason to start slow.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • hahaha where do you people get these "stats" from. and the other guy with 5-10 shit....

The people that talk about 5-10 backlinks a week or some "scheduled link building plan" are the same people that start threads asking how to build a "high quality backlink" lol.....

  • I don't think linking from social media counts, traffic generation does but I doubt backlinking. Anyway, if you already submitted your site to search engines then you can start soon. Do you have platforms where you can start link building?

  • Based on the explanations you gave, I have engaged a SEO that was providing satisfaction guarantee and not a guarantee on rankings. He talked about white hat SEO and how he will get it by outreaching to other webmasters. He has an old thread with lot of reviews and recent reviews. I have put my trust in it and hope he does well with it. Thanks to Mike Anthony and MikeFriedman for their valuable input. You helped me jump the fence on it. Thank you!
  • You can start even before you start your own business. This way you will get people who are interested in your products or service - you might get their emails as well if you set your page right. You can then use these emails for marketing campaings when you start your sales.
  • First, create a list of all the SM, directories, forums & so on that you'll focus on. Structure them in a simple .xls file. Set your monthly link submission target! Keep track of all your work! Nothing happens quickly here. It takes time and dedication. Consistency is very important. Hit you target month after month and you'll get there
  • You should consult online, these issues are workarounds
  • No one will give a guarantee, as they have no control over Google or what will do or is planning to do! Anyone who DOES guarantee, run away...

  • Yes that's too fast. And there are a few people that know or rather have so much data they can see what the changes will look like before they happen and because of it are able to set up strategies and or changes to keep their first positions consistently.
  • Things change now in terms of backlinks, quantity and quality of links created. I suggest you focus on building quality links but not too much per day. Good Luck!

    • There isn't such a thing as too much/too many/too fast. There's dong crap and doing SEO. It's the doing crap that gets you slapped... Doing crap fast will get you slapped faster. Doing SEO, focusing on your client's needs, will not.

  • To the new domain we have to start immediate branding for the website. For the back linking focus on the keywords and content then only quality backlinks will generate.
  • You can build backlinks anytime, but remember all links should be natural and high quality. Google loves natural backlinks and gives more value to other links.
  • Start immediately but not too much.

It's better to have some wiki backlinks and social backlinks, also blogrolll and guest post than buyin 10k backlinks which are probably worthless and can badly affect your ranking.

It's not too obvious because those nofollow links aren't ranking any pages.
  • I always wait for a week or two.
First i get the social profiles done then PRs and then backlinking from Web 2.0s
  • For a brand new site you can start the link building right away, the way I like to do it is to build a solid layer of socials, and brand/naked URLs to gain traction. This is exactly what every new business would do and you need to make sure it doesn't stand out. Going to build a lot of links fast? Then you need socials with those links.

  • Yes, I would agree. Start right away to build backlinks. It takes time for google and other search engines to see the backlinks, so starting early gives you ability to build more links.
