Lately I follow Brian Dean at Backlinko.com which is really huge now.

Also I check up on the RankXL.com blog because it has pretty good content.

What other great SEO bloggers are out there? I would prefer bloggers that focus on actionable content for everyday players, instead of highly technical stuff.

Ask Brian about his 200 ranking factors, [cough] 100 opinions that don't rank pages [sigh].

Check the backlinks for RankXL LOL...

I doubt that site will be there in a year.

It takes him about a month to produce those ridiculous skyscrapers of content, by the time he posts it's already old news.

But they rank well, so obviously he's doing something right.

It's called link bait, the same is being done with fiverr so I guess the fiverr shit is also working. The question is, who's it working for? Answer, the domain owner.

You say that as if every person on the Warrior Forum isn't out to benefit themselves just as much.

People don't come here for SEO advice so they can learn how to rank a page and not make a profit from it. We're all here to make money.

True, there's a bunch of schemers on this site selling the same type of nonsense.

But in Brain Dean's case, it's not nonsense because he's actually ranking on the first page of Google for the keywords he targets.

                Obviously it works.

I even admitted I've tried most of the techniques.

                They definitely work.

The question is: how effective are they and how much work is actually required to achieve a successful campaign. I think if you try the stuff out, you will realize that for the most part, his site is a super volcano of bullshit.

21 Actionable SEO Techniques You Can Use Right Now

                #1 No follow doesn't work
                #2 Keywords on redit, /facepalm
                #3 I prefer google
                #4 That's fine, or taboola
                #5 I prefer google
#6 Yeah that's fine, most people suck bad at curation and it's just use it as a way to steal social shares.
                #7 Failure
#8 OH REALLY? DO SEO? WHOA...
#9 Thanks for the copywriting advice
#10 Wow that works? No kidding! /facepalm
                #11 See #3 and #5
#12 Use the title tag, got it.
#13 I don't recommend trying to hack wikipedia, the FBI will not be happy you.
#14 Stole that from other people
#15 Sigh. General advice for unknown target keywords.
#16 Only partially correct and incorrect in the example given.
                #18 "VERY labor-intensive process."
#19 Autopilot, a ton of work, whats the difference?
#20 I prefer ahrefs, semrush, majestic, moz
#21 Seriously, with the keyword ideas not coming from the source of the traffic? This is completely stupid. If you want Google traffic, get the information from ... DRUMROLL ... GOOGLE...

2 pieces of advice out of 21, 9.52% accuracy, with another 3 being partially accurate. I believe that is what teachers and college professors call a "fail."

Right, the same way Neil Patel is smoozing for links with moz, etc... Links rank pages, has nothing to do with quality, especially in the case of the 200 SEO list where he claimed 100 of the list was SEO which was an obvious fail because it wasn't SEO.

If you know SEO it easy to spot BS, same goes for fiverr, all BS but noobs drink the kool-aid all day long because they don't know SEO.

Well, that really depends right? If Google updates the algorythm to devalue pages that take 15 minutes to swipe through on a mobile phone then his site is screwed.

Which they should do. His site is ridiculous.

I'm not saying what he does is bad, or that he's doing anything wrong, I'm just saying that it would be great, if each of his posts came with a "Cliffsnotes" version.

Or maybe a version with proper pagination.

Right, his strategy is information overload, so instead of actually putting thought into the content, you just share it, or link to it without reading it. If I had a site on SEO, I'd probably link to it. I don't have time to read that crap... I'm sure the readers of the site (who most likely don't do SEO or marketing) will like it.

"Oh, look, Brain posted another book in single page form, uh yeah... Great..."

Some of the content is great, that post and the CRO post are junk.

I've tried a bunch of the techniques there (the glossary, 100+ questions answered, 100+ tips, but I usually include internal navigational links and group the concepts together so the user experience isn't complete garbage.) They work, they didn't explode my organic traffic by 731%, but there were shares, I got some links...
