I see that many websites have comments for their articles.
Can adding this to my niche content website, that has several articles (it's not a blog though, it doesn't get updated) improve my SEO?

If the answer is positive, then considering that I have a static website, that was created without any CMS, Which comment system can fit me?

  • No.

The big sites' articles that allow comments, are not affected.
The article stands on its own due to authority.
Google ignores the lunacy of the comments.

Examples are yahoo, huff post, wash post, nyt, etc. etc. etc.

They could negatively effect your SEO, however.

Unless you make them hidden to google.

But then, that won't hurt or help.

There is no point for sites to allow comments because of 2 rules:

    1. All comments are spam.
    2. If you think your comment is not spam, refer to rule 1.

If you use adsense, you most assuredly should not allow comments.

I do allow comments on my blogspots.....but here's the kicker.
They must be reviewed. You want to know how many comments
I have approved in 10+ years?..... Zero.

Every so often, I just delete all pending comments.
The blogs seem friendlier with a comment section,
    but that's not SEO.

If your site gets on a spam list, look out below.

If you want comments on your page use the Facebook iframe embed code, that way your comments won't ever show up on your HTML source code so it won't hurt the page as far as SEO. No link spammers will bother because their bots won't post on Facebook comments. Plus you get cross promotion for social (Facebook).

  • Hello dears,
I am new in SEO trends and totally ignore about this. Thanks a lot for sharing this useful information.
  • I don't care much about comments, only reason I think about adding them is for SEO purposes. maybe posts by visitors can contribute to my visibility in the SERPS. that was my line of thought.

You'll get slammed with spam comments. If you're targeting payday & viagra keywords, go for it.
  • I use the comments section on niche blogs to carry on my own conversation, inserting a few more keywords, or a few hundred extra words to the page.

It works if you can't fit the info or keywords into the main content on the page.
