  • Google doesn't like it when you back link to yourself and spends hundreds of millions of dollars tracking links.

If you can't figure out how to get naturally occurring back links and choose the purchased back link route; search the forum now for threads that start with: "My website isn't ranked anymore, what happened?" so you're ready.

    • Really?
What about "link to yourself" in sitemap?

  • Those have all be proven methods, some by the top individuals in the industry. I am not talking about buying spammy links and shit authority sites. Most of it is content related with a promotional aspect. Please explain further what you mean? None of those methods cost money to create links so I am not sure where you are going with this.
  • I think it is mostly an exercise in futility to try to rank these. There are too many variables.

A press release that gets picked up and talked about by major publications all over the nation is going to be more valuable than a guest post on somedumbmarketersblog.com. But, I'll take a guest post that shows up on page one of Forbes over a press release that gets little to no traction.
  • It's not the what, it's the how.

Writing a press release and posting it on 1 or more sites, usually, does little.

Guest blogging... depends on whose site... Guest post on a site with 100,000 monthly visitors vs a site with 30 monthly visitors.... It also depends on quality of post... I have written articles just for a backlink... way back when... and articles that I wanted people to repost/tweet about... There's a difference in quality... which leads to a difference in links you get.

Your other 2 methods come with promotion included, so, as described by you, they're more effective.

But, again, it's the how that makes the big difference.

All else being equal, the skyscraper is the most effective.

  • You mean submission to 3 years old PR sites?

  • A back link is a positive vote from a stranger for your website.
When you back link to yourself, you are basically voting for yourself.
Ask G how they feel about that. Ask G what that does to their ranking system.

When G finds out, you will lose any linking juice and ranking will go back to where it was prior to voting for yourself.

    How does G find out?
Very easily but it can take time for them to put it all together but when they do...

If you are building a business, do it correctly.

    • What kind garbage is that?
Backlink is nothing more than referrer used to communicate to Bots
and direct them to info publisher believes might be useful for public.

You can call it "vote" or whatever you want but at least give a credit for what it is.

      Really?

  • I still don't get what you are referring to in regards to linking to myself. If another site decides to pick up and use my content and happen to link back to my site, how is this negatively affecting my results? (If they are in fact a high authority based site in my niche).
  • "Really?

Have no idea what your talking about
