Can i rank for a squeeze page?

Hi there guys.

I have just set up a squeeze page for an affiliate product i am promoting. My question is can i really rank a squeeze page in the search engine? I know a little seo and stuff, but if i start building backlinks to the squeeze page will it produce result?

    Absolutely, Geoff.

    Depending on the niche you are in, a squeeze page can
    definitely rank in the search engines... the only difference
    is on which page of the search engine result pages (SERPs),
    is all.

    As for results... what kind of results are you looking for?
    For opt-ins, it will depend on the offer you have and the
    way you format your squeeze page.

    For SERPs, it's up to the competitive level of the niche
    and the term you are targeting it for.

    Well i am targeting a quite competitive niche and i have read that thin sites like squeeze pages dont really get a lot of love from google even if you backlink like hell.

    I would really like to get my page to page 1.

      Hey Geoff..

      The trick to doing this, is to have a content rich site overall..

      i.e.

      More pages than just the squeeze page. You may be focusing on backlinking to get the squeeze page high, but that doesn't mean you can't fill more pages with rich, valuable content for the search engines to see.

      I've been able to get several squeeze page sites ranked in the top 5 positions of Google, so yes, it is definitely possible.

      You do have a disadvantage compared to huge sites with lots of content though. If all of the websites on the first page of Google for that keyword are large, well-optimized sites....well then you may not have a chance. However, you can probably find some less competitive similar terms you'll be able to rank for.

      One option you could pursue is, rather than having a squeeze page, use that opt-in box that appears on the page a few seconds after someone hits the page, and it greys out the whole website other than the opt-in form?

      (I'm technically challenged, so I hope this makes sense and you know what I'm referring to! It's like a hover pop-up, but it blurs or greys out the website behind the opt-in box, so they have to enter their name and email to continue to read your content)

    Hey man you are one of my fave warriors man, thats what i was worried about thin sites. Maybe i can just put content on my site but the index will still be the squeeze page. Will that work?

      That's my way. Maybe no the only way, but certainly the way I like to do it.

      The site as a whole will be given more credit, or they always do in my experience. Content rich pages, but the index.html will still be a squeeze.

      Also:

      It helps if your squeeze page is more than just a basic "squeeze"..if you catch my drift.

      Try to have the content more than just call to action, a short squeeze can still be informative without losing it's power

    The simple answer is that each page is ranked by itself.

    You can absolutely rank a thin page.

    Make sure the keyword is in the page name or in the domain name if possible.

    Put the keyword in the page title and descripiption.

    Also the headline.

    You may want a sitemap , privacy and terms page.

    If you really want to boost it place an article below the fold (low down on the page).

    If you have a blog on the site link to it too.

    One link (open in new window) to an wuthority site can help.

    Then make sure you get a mix of keyword related links to the page (not all the same keyword).

    Get an rss feed for the page and submit that as well.
