So I'm thinking about starting my own website about SEO which would feature videos and helpful content.

After spending a lot of time in this forum, I realize that many people want to rank their website and are very confused about how to do it and gain the positive effects of a higher rank in Google without using risky techniques.

I have been doing SEO since 1996 (before Google) and now realize that it is very difficult for people who are new to SEO to just jump right in and they may be attracted to "push button" solutions to their SEO problem that could cause serious damage in the long run.

So for the videos, they would explain "difficult SEO concepts" in very simple language (I would keep it at a 5th grade speaking/writing level.) I would use props like puppets and super hero action figures to explain complex subjects like : "Why your Alexa rank does not matter to Google."

The videos would be something similar to, if you can imagine a show in between My Little Pony and Captain Kanagroo... But, about Google and your Website.

Or maybe something simple like a youtube channel similar to https://www.youtube.com/user/skippy62able but about SEO. I have a long beard so I could easily play a character named "Rank Wizard." Or something similar. Alternatively I could dress up as a Pirate and be a "Black Hat" to illustrate that concept clearly.

I could use some advice here. I think there's demand for a site like this personally.

As far as doing SEO to the site, I really believe that people will find it so helpful that I won't need to do much other than some social media marketing. What do you guys think? Any advice here?

The only question I have is, have you checked your alexa rank today?

Personally, I'd find a SEO site with a Rank Wizard and a Black Hat rather childish. Just my taste though.

The idea I find not too bad. There are a lot of things website owners can do all by themselves for better SEO if explained properly.

I would have appreciated this when I started SEOing my first business page.

There would have to be a structure though, starting with the simplest basic steps, and a section for more advanced stuff. Some SEO talk on niche specific pages and blogs makes e feel like a newborn, I don't understand half of what they are on about. I wouldn't go into this kinda stuff ... the fanatics will gather round their own popular gurus anyway.

But to get some basic stuff explained, well yes a site like this ought to find happy visitors

I really don't think you're part of the site's target audience. You already seem to understand concepts and know things. The site I want to build would be more geared towards people who want to learn things like "Will nofollow links help my site rank?" I really think people are just not getting this stuff and it really needs to be broke down. down... way down..... I think some actors dressed up as pirates will help here as I cover the "history of links." Maybe some actors dressed up in animal costumes, things like that. I think it would really work when explaining some of the major algorithmic updates Google has rolled out.

Think less "I'm a professional" and more "somebody told me about Google." Don't think basic steps, think alphabet blocks.

The target audience is : Billy, 12 years old, made a website about his Call of Duty success, and wants to know if he should point GSA at his site. To, UH, I'll call him Fred : who is from a third world country and heard yesterday that people make money online and wants to know how to get Google to "look at his Instagram." And also people like Bob: who is a recovering paint huffer who has a blog about pro wrestling, and he wants to how to rank #1 on the keyword "Hulk Hogan" in 30 days or less.

I really don't see how I'm going to help any of these people without actors dressed up, action figures fighting, cartoons, or maybe explosions or something.

I personally think stating that "I'm an SEO wizard" and playing the part would be very effective and ethical, since some of these people don't seem to understand much about anything anyways and I'm not going to steer them in the wrong direction.

I have no opinion on whether or not this would work for teaching SEO, but if you can include even a fraction of your ideas in some videos I'm signing up to watch em. I'm sure the recovering paint huffers will be on board too!

      This thread:

OK so. Google is an action figure of Darth Vader, and the death star is fully operational.

And Moz.com and Majestic.com are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Does Darth Vader care about the TMNT? No of coarse not, he has control of the death star.

Darth Vader has nothing to do with the TMNT. Nothing, if Darth Vader wanted to, he could use the force and throw them into lava, or just blow the whole planet up.

I hope this helps your understanding of Google and Metrics that are Not Google.

I see where you're going with this... If Al Pacino hadn't played in Scarface then Homer Simpson might not have ate the donuts.
