Can a search for a local Google Places listing appear in a national SERPs?

I know that Google Places is for local businesses, franchises, and corporate offices as long as there's a physical address for each location.

For example, my mom&pop store is in Raleigh, NC and appears in Google Places for Raleigh, NC. I'd like to know if my mom&pop store which has an EMD like buypetfood.com will appear in the SERPs of any other city if someone searches for "buy pet food" on Google.

    I don't think it will appear in another city. Since you have set your Geographical location already to Raleigh NC or Google has captured it from your local places address. However if somebody is searching from another city using raleigh or anything like this then it will appear.
