New TLD's and SEO effects

Do believe , the new TLD's have same impact on SEO, as the old ones ?
I have never encountered any new TLD's in top ten search results from past few months.
I believe if native domains like country specific domains have impact on geographical search results, likewise dot travel, dot photgraphy should have the same impact in their field.
Whats the reason to introduce so many TLD's to confuse others.

Whats your opinion on new TLD's and the mess they are creating ?

    Why would search engines care about the TLD?

    The reason you have not seen them is because they are new. Also, there is a lot less sites using TLDs other than dot com. So makes sense you don't see them as often, if you are looking for them.

    You are right of course that the TLD will have some effect but it's not as much as you think. There are many more signals that come before the TLD.

    Why are people confused? Even if some are, they'll soon get used to it. It also makes perfect sense. A travel agency can use dot travel, what could be more clear? I think it was bound to happen, surprised it took this long.
