So i am going to be very detailed in what i am thinking .

You can see i have a website which i made 2 years ago it is online-pdfconverter.net

it converts jpg image files into pdf

i want to target it for a keyword "jpg to pdf converter" which has around 90k searches per month and a low competition according to google adwords.

i want to promote it with seo traffic only .i see there are other websites in this vertical

and there are really high volume keywords for which they are appearing in google first page. Example see this website convert-jpg-to-pdf.net

All these websites lacks any significant content and are single page web utilities

i know i cannot compete with them but i want to know how can i improve ranking of my website in search engines for these type of websites

i only want to do genuine seo

thanks

Have you given PBNs a thought?

Well you could build up some free 2.0 sites or scrape them with scrapebox lets say. You need high PA, since DA is already high if they are tumblr, weebly,.. You also need to check TF and CF. You can do all of this with free tools.

I am using MOS chrome addon to check PA and Majestic backlink chrome addon to check TF and CF. I would say then need to have 30 or more of DA and 10+ CF and TF.

When you are using keywords in your backlinks make sure that you are not using it to much. Google can penalize your site for that. Always stay below 10%. Also do naked url's, generic keywords, brand keywords.

You can build many of those from forums, blogs, article submission sites. Save exact match for PBN's or strong 2.0 sites.

First, the competition in Google adwords has nothing to do with SEO; it's for adwords only. So far, I know you don't know how competitive your keyword is.

Need to learn how to judge difficulty... That means, you need to know what good onpage optimization is, and check the top site for it and you need to know what is a good link and check the links the top site has.

Basically, what you need most of is backlinks from pages that have backlinks to them. It's best if they're in the same niche, good if they're in a related niche. There should be few outgoing links, preferably only one: yours.

If I were you, I'd start keyword research again, figuring out SEO difficulty not Adwords difficulty.

Then I'd use my keywords on the page (this forum is full of threads about where keywords should go). And I'd create some amazing content, then I'd contact people whose sites would benefit from my content and ask for a link.

hi dbark thanks for your reply

i can do on page optimization .You can see my website is optimized for keyword 'jpg to pdf converter' but i do not have good back links that is for sure ,i can also check backlinks of my competitor through seo tools and can improve in this direction also.

Last thing i want to know is how you determine seo competition for a keyword ?

You have that phrase in h1 and you repeat it many, many times in the body of your content. That's not optimization, that's keyword-stuffing.

You don't seem to have internal links, let alone a good internal linking structure. Yes, I found some links to the converter page, but they didn't take me there (404 error).

Keyword competition, you look to see what #1 has done. Can you easily do better or more? Then, it's easy. That means you have to check their backlinks (majestic seo does that for you) and look to see if they target the keyword, how they use it on page (where, how many times, related keywords).

Hi dabk and yukon thanks for your reply

i checked out the top website which is coming for 'jpg to pdf converter'.

here are some of my observations

they are really using keyword stuffing like they have used keyword 'convert jpg to pdf' 7 times .They have even used that keyword in domain name , title tags etc .

they are ranking for both keywords i.e 'convert jpg to pdf' and 'jpg to pdf' .which has around 7 lakh searches per month . they have thousands of backlinks and thousands of shares and likes on social media .

They have not optimized their website for keyword 'jpg to pdf converter' .

Rest i am working on the issues which you have mentioned .In any case as yukon has mentioned i now assume it is not possible to me to get on top but may be first page ? what do you think ?

Should i check the last result on first page to see if i can outrank them for this keyword 'jpg to pdf converter' ? This may give me some hope

The #1 ranked page/domain has 60 pages indexed & 6 of those pages specifically mention your target keyword (jpg to pdf converter).

Even the Home page mentions the exact keyword (jpg to pdf converter) 3 times.

They also have a bunch of followed link anchor-text with LSI keywords. So... they're targeting multiple variations of your target keyword.

The ranked page/site dates back to 2012 so they're established though their site itself is weak, still they have a few followed relevant links.

Nothing new or out of the ordinary here, just start doing SEO.

    That would be a fail.

First, a 90K keyword isn't going to be low competion.

Second, Adwords shows the PPC competition not organic SERPs.

You'll need to do a lot better on building followed backlinks. I took a quick look & only see 4 followed links on the link profile for the domain in your WF sig.

yes you are right yukon i think this the reason i did not get good traffic from search engines . You see i made this website 2 years ago and it had several links for other functionalities like password protect pdf , merge pdf , split pdf ,html to pdf , jpg to pdf ,png to pdf etc .Back then i did not have any knowledge of seo ,relevancy, page rank quality etc so i made several pages but none of the page was optimized for a keyword . i used to get some visitors like 4 -5 a day but then i got engaged in my regular job and lost track of this website and when i checked it some days ago i saw the visitors have declined to may be 0 or 1 a day .i checked webmaster tools and for most of the search queries for which my website was getting impressions were kind a unrelated to each other .So i removed all other pages and decided to concentrate on a single keyword i.e jpg to pdf converter both off page and on page .

i do not want to do spam and now learning legitimate ways to get back links .i know this may take time but i am more prepared .
