    Yeah, they are helpful. If your theme has good style and yet its loading speed is low then it will help.
    To get high quality backlink the simplest and the most effective way to get them is guest posting.

    The theme is important, especially now that Google is pushing every site owner to implement mobile-friendly themes.
    Regarding backlinks, guest blogging is great. But, in order to get your link in some good blogs you must pay attention to your site's content quality. You need unique, engaging content to attract reliable readers/users.

    Not mainly for search engines but most importantly for your audience.
    Internet is accessible via different portable devices now, anytime, anywhere.
    If you are able to get your site responsive or mobile friendly then you'll have less bounce rate and retain people that comes to your site.

    You should have responsive theme keeping aside its importance in SEO. half of your traffic is from mobile now, so you want to give your readers a good experience when they visit your website. Remember, not having a responsive site means losing tons of good traffic

    Of course it is. You need to look no further than Google's own statements to understand this. However, so far the difference between mobile results and "desktop" search hasn't been that big for most users and site owners. This might change in future. This also depends on your industry/niche/product - will people search for it on their phone, or are they more likely to do it on the desktop during work hours.

    The rise of mobile isn't new thing any more. I'm pretty sure there's been discussion about it for more than half a decade. If you're building new sites there's no excuse to not make it mobile.
