Google displays wrong title

Hello,

Please check this screenshot http://goo.gl/DCdlUr you will notice that the TITLE has a column where we dont want to appear. Basically our YOAST settings appears to be like this: Casa Grande Insurance | Gebhardt Insurance Group but it did not show that way in Google.

So yes, we followed everything listed on this link https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35624?hl=en , we rewrite, update and check the codes but yet no good.

Can someone here provide us a tip please on how we can make it appear like this Casa Grande Insurance | Gebhardt Insurance Group instead of the one given to us by Google ( like in the screenshot)

Also, do you think this could also be a theme issue?

I do appreciate if someone here could give me a detailed answer rather than pointing us to a resource. Or, if you point us to a resource link I hope that will be the right solution so we can follow.

The website is in Wordpress.

Many thanks to all of you

Tony

One trick I've used in the past to get Google to reset stubborn SERP titles is to completely overhaul the HTML page title with a different keyword, wait for Google to reindex the webpage & update the SERP title with the new keyword & then go back & change the webpage HTML title to the correct text that you originally wanted Google to show as the SERP title.

If you do this don't be impatient, you have to give Google time to update their data & that starts by giving Googlebot time to find each updated HTML title/text.

  • For more relevant answer to this question you do know that admin panel is necessary. Another possibility is that this may displaying according to the old indexing. So if you have changed your meta title than wait for search engines to re-index it and in the mean time focus on your SEO process to accelerate the process.
    Thanks.

  • All you basically have to do is change the Title to what you want then go to pingler.com ping your website so it alerts google that there are changes in your website and be a little patient for your website to be crawled. Then you will see your desired Title.

All you had to do is look at the Google cache source code for OPs Home page & you would see Google already knows the exact title OP is targeting. The cache is also recent (2 days old).

  • Two points:
    - you using the word "insurance" twice in the title; the algorithm may see that as spam and of no use to searchers in the search results, so they go looking for another title that the algorithm thinks is better to display
    - the algoirthm may detect you as being manipulative; the name of your company is "gebhardt insurance group"; your backlinks say that; your page says that .... google may want to display the name of your company first as the algorithm sees that as more relevant to the search query and of more use to the searcher.
  • may be google should fix it
