Backlinks from "Rich" WEB2 - Will This Work?

Hello,
A friend of mine told me about a method he uses to rank some of his websites.

He creates WEB2 properties (Tumblr, Wordpress and so on) with 4-5 articles on each one of them (each also contains images and YouTube videos) + 2-3 pages ("About", "Contact Us" for example). Not one page WEB2 websites, but rich in content WEB2 websites, all relevant to his niche.

He builds around 10 of these WEB2 websites/blogs per 1 keyword. So if he promotes 5 keywords = 50 WEB2 websites.

I mostly do guest posts, forum commenting etc.. And was wondering if his method is legitimate . Can you actually rank websites this way? It works for him, but it's not the only SEO method he does, so you can't really know what ranked the KWs.

  • IF you can link back those articles on WEB2 properties then I think it should work really great. Just send some traffic on those articles and whenever someone clicks your link in the article google will see it as a good thing. (If I'm right someone please back me up here)

    • Well, building HIGH QUALITY links to those WEB2 sites are not as easy as you describe it.

  • It could help to increase your rankings, but you should have a solid website first.
    Then get a few real high quality links and you will get way better rankings than all those 'thin' and new websites that don't have any linkvalue.

    • "Real high quality links" are from authority websites. And these websites won't link to "new" websites, especially if you mention it's for SEO purposes. That's why most people link from sources like forums, WEB2 etc..

      So, pretty much it's a loop. Isn't it ?
  • Hi, it could be and it works though it sounds like a bit of work writing all these high quality content.

    In my opinion the fastest would be building PBNs for backlinks provided that they are of good content, though a little white hat web2.0 posting sounds a good way to supplement it. But then again, it seems like a bit of work to have these 50 websites.

    • It does take some time to build these 50 websites. But if the niche is profitable - it's worth it.

  • Yes it works. I build multi-page Web 2.0 sites with strong natural context, internal links and external links built to the keyword article for my clients, and I am often told the rankings are going up.

    But remember - QUALITY and external links to the Web 2.0 are really needed.

    Yep - that's why the people making money INVEST in their content by hiring quality people, not putting up rubbish themselves.
