In order to rank higher on SERP on local Google, you have to get backlinks from local or your targeted area. For example, if you want to target your keyword to rank higher on local google (e.g. Google India), you have to search backlinks from google India.

I've tried these for my 2 different websites which target at 2 different countries, and it works magic!

A huge part of ranking local is your on-page SEO. Next best thing would to get a few good links per month with local keywords in mind.

You could also search for sites that are located in your area and reach out to these sites and try to negotiate getting a link from them.

You may want to start with removing your site from your signature, not really going to do you any favours.


Get a google places listing up.
Get citations done.
Try and get some local news sites,blogs,other related businesses in the area. Write some informational content that would benefit people in your area.
Local directories, not that great, but good for your link profile.


Add areas you cover on your site. and google places.


The list goes on.....

Find out who your competitors are. Research their backlinks and citations. Get listed on all of the sites they are on, then out preform them with content and on-page SEO.

Make sure you have NAP consistency in citations(name, address, phone).

If you find websites that list your business and NAP is not consistent, contact them and tell them to edit the listing. This is crucial especially if you want to get into the 3 pack.

Note that if you do not have a local business with a physical address, you should say goodby to local SEO.

First of all, list your website in Google local listing. It will give you high impact for ranking purpose because you will become genuine local business in the eyes of Google. Second, start optimizing your website by building local backlinks.
