I saw to day that I've got a backlink from a site with a PA of 91 and a DA of 90. What I want to know is what is the meaning of this. The site is in the same niche as mine. I also saw a backlink from a educational site with a PA of 83 and DA of 79. Will this increase my site rankings.

  • I really didn't understood what you want to ask.

But to answer you second question, yes it will help you improve your search rankings. PA stands for Page Authority and DA stands for Domain Authority.

These are the metrics created by Moz to measure how good or authoriative a website is. Getting a backlink from such high DA and PA website is good.

But don't get confused by the fact that these are the metrics by MOZ and that doesn't mean your rankings will improve.

Just make sure to get backlinks from websites that are in your niche and share relevant content to yours.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • PA- Page Authority
    DA- Domain Authority

I suggest you check out the Moz website for the detailed explanation or this link from their site about the basics: https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo . Hope it helps!
  • High authority edu will not help your site rank. But its good to add them to your link profile in limited amount!

Lol, he's throttling .edu links. That's a new one...
    • FALSE. GOOD EDU WILL RANK
  • Page Authority is a score between 1 and 100 that tells you how “authoritative” a page is. The higher the Page Authority, the greater the potential for that individual page to rank well in search results. Domain authority is a measure of the power of a domain name and is one of many search engine ranking factors. Domain authority is based on three factors: Age, Popularity, and Size. Overall, these metrics are very important for determining the overall strength of individual ranking pages or domains. Page Authority is specifically used heavily in the calculation of keyword competitiveness. Will this increase your site rankings? Yes.

    • What an absolutely totally clueless post!!!

MOZ does not use age and size in the DA calculation formula
Care to explain WTF you think PA has to do with 'keyword competitiveness"? ... MOZ factors nothing to do with keywords into the PA calculation!!!!
    • Incorrect. .edu is not the relevant part. So, they can help you rank, the links coming from .edu sites.

There are many things wrong with what you say, I'll ask only about one: Why would Google use MOZ's page authority rank and not their own PageRank?
