    It is possible, there is no guarantee anything will rank though. If your on-page SEO is great, and the tumblr has many good links going to it, then you should see results. With competition that low, a single good guest post and a few social bookmarks should rank it.

    Like most backlinks..It may not hurt to have a few links from some good relevant pages on Tumblr, but no need to have dozens or hundreds of them..

    This is of course possible even though is there no guarantee that you would be ranked, but Where you have a good on-page SEO and the tumbler is connected with good links to it, then I believe you should have a positive result.

    1 or 2 backlinks from Tumblr are ok. Anything more than that will have a diminished result the more backlinks you add from Tubmlr. Links 3,4,5, etc. won't have any value. Also too, try and link from a relevant Tumblr blog.
