Linking is useless. Embed it. Optimize the page.

I don't know what you mean by empty content.

If you mean nothing but the video, and I mean NOTHING, that would be daft.

If by empty you mean title, description, (on page) etc.,
        that is not empty content.

Nobody in their right mind would just embed a video
or link to it, without any references or context on the page.

        Well, maybe someone would.

As Paul said, you should embed it, not link to it. But an empty page with just a video is worthless.

It's already on YouTube. Google can show YouTube videos in their search results, so why would they decide to rank a page that contains only a video?

Use the video as part of your content. Write something helpful and useful. Pages with embedded media tend to be more user oriented and can improve time on page and that can lead to rankings.

If just posting a video got you traffic, well... Everyone would be doing it!

My opinion is that you need content. At least an optimized description of what the video is about. Or why did you choose the video to be posted on your page.

    well Check out 9GAg TV..

their site also managed to get traffic despite just videos from youtubes ..well perhaps due to their well established trademark as memes stuff....perhaps naturally will have people visit it.
