Is it recommened to post promotional links on forums?

Hello everyone,

I want to know if it is a good idea nowadays to post promotional links in the signature? I have been banned from most forums for attempting that. I need the answer from experienced people in this matter because I want to do serious SEO work for my website.

    Every forum have their forum rules and they vary from forum to forum. The ideal thing to do is to read the forum rules before doing anything. With that, you will have first hand information on what is permitted or not permitted.

    Thank you for the information. Most forums have this rule - No promotional links in the signature. Is there any reason why the forums don't allow members to post links?
