    This is how I look at it:

    A wide array of good, non spam links, IMO, works best and in the real world, that includes no follow links.
    I want what ever appears to be natural occurring for my SEO.

    If they're paid for crap no follow, I wouldn't waste my time.

    Well, Google doesn't crawl nofollow links and because of this it is of no use. It won't be effective at all in driving the attention of people towards it. It is of no use.

      Totally misleading, Google says nofollow backlinks have their own importance.

    Google takes nofollow links out of their PageRank calculations, and out of their algorithms when.

    A nofollow backlink from a relevant website brings more SEO improvements when compared to another dofollow backlink from a general/unfit website.

    I made a testing with a new website all with nofollow comment backlinks, with five posts and two months of lifespan it achieved DA11, PA16. All comments came from relevant blog posts and youtube/dailymotion videos.

    Now, I am a total newbie in SEO, but I understood that relevancy plays an important role in SEO.

    P.S got P1 on Google for 13 keywords/long tail keywords during the time.
    Applied comments linking only to posts, barel any was redirecting to the homepage except social accounts.

      No. Nofollow links don't pass juice or anchor text. So, no direct help for SEO.

    Yes, there are some benefits of the nofollow links:
    - they make your site natural - one of the main benefits of nofollow backlinks.
    - traffic - nofollow links help you to get good and quality traffic.
    - help you to have authority - if you writing quality post which means the post which has been written for the users not for the search engines.
    - increase PA and DA - now advertisers check the quality of site through Alexa rank and DA. Lower the Alexa and higher the DA, the high is the quality of your site and the more amount you will get on advertising something.
    - you will never get penalize - if your domain has 100% nofollow backlinks also, you will never ever get penalize.

      Here's the definite answer: they don't pass juice or anchor text, so no SEO benefit. They let people visit the page the link point too, so awesome benefit there.

      No, Google never said you should have 40% nofollow links. Google ain't stoopid!

      No, they don't make your site look natural. A nofollow links means the people who created the link don't trust your site. How's getting no trust votes making anything look natural?

      Nofollow don't help you get good and quality traffic. Where the link originates determines that, not the type of link!

      How does it help you have authority when it tells Google this link is going to a site the link creator doesn't trust?

      Who cares about PA and DA? And, isn't the A in these thingies short for Authority? And if you don't get authority (see above) how does it increase the A, which stands for Authority?

      Why do you even utter the word Alexa? Do you know what Alexa does? (Nothing. It does nothing for your site, lots of money for the owner of Alexa. But nothing for your or my or Joe Shmoe's sites.)

    Look at these 4 reasons why Nofollow links can be beneficial for your website:
    - Nofollow links start getting more links - this is a great way to add valuable research to an article, no matter whether the content has been found through a Nofollow link or not;
    - Nofollow links are endorsement - when you land on a blog you like and see a link in their content or when you see a link of your favourite author, you are likely to go through it and maybe even share it, without having any idea if the link is a Nofollow or not. All you know is that you like the content or its author;
    - Nofollow links build authority- Nofollow links that show up on social media forums do not add any SEO link value to the site, but they still have a content worth to talk about;
    - Nofollow links may improve rankings - it means, when you have Nofollow links on your site, it tells Google that you are building links naturally.

      What's natural about you building nofollow links? You get plenty of those from sites that scrape the internet for site (whois type of sites for instance).

    Is nofollow back links has some benefit for website ?
    The only thing you'll squeeze out of a nofollow link for SEO is using the link to get Google to index/reindex a page/file.

    The nofollow name is a bit misleading because Google will still follow a nofollow link but they won't use that link to help rank a page. They claim they won't follow them but they do or at the very least Google is adding new nofollow link URLs that they find to a database table and visit the URL later on with another algo/bot.

    Orphan a page with nofollow links, Google will index the page.

    Google does not crawl nofollow links. I could talk a lot more on crawl prioritization, but I shall refrain.

    Google does not index a page via a nofollow link.

    They will index a page that has a nofollow link pointing to it, obviously, if there are other links to it that it does crawl.

    Nofollow links are not counted in the overall link count. Meaning, they don't exist in any way, shape, or form in google's total database of the web. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Soooooooooooooooooooooo:

    They are useless for SEO.

      Um... yeah, they do.

      Crawling a link and passing authority are two different things.

      Like I said earlier, build one orphan page and one nofollow link to that page, the page will be indexed. I'm not talking about backdoors on the host either.

    Who says nofollow is good. Yes of course Nofollow also important as you can get traffic by these links.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[10716166].message }}
  • Nofollow links are still useful in the sense that they can bring traffic to your site and make your backlink profile diversified. However, if you have a nofollow backlink on a high DA site, no link juice from that high DA site will be passed to your site. So, nofollow links are still good to have, but if you are trying to increase your rankings in the SERP, then you should focus on obtaining dofollow backlinks.

  • No follow link to your web page can provide it a genuine look, because of which you can get rid of Google penalty. Such links can diversify your profile.No follow links can be also helpful for your site to gain authority which will lead to increase traffic.

    Nofollow contextual backlinks helps your site gain some authority,extra referral traffic or you probably will also be getting new subscribers. Nofollow links on big websites can help your site gain trust.

      How do they increase authority, seeing they don't pass juice or anchor text? Seeing that Google invented them to give webmasters who did not trust a site but still linked to it a way of telling Google that they did not trust the site they were linking to?

        Yess... It's better to keep 40% no-follow links out of your total. Otherwise Google will easily detect that you are trying to increase your organic serach result!!
        Thank you

          No, it's not best. It's not even good. You do not know what you're talking about.

          Look up what a nofollow link is and what it does.
